Peer Networking Initiatives

One of the most exciting part of the IUPUI culture is the emphasis on student-run initiatives! Through collaborating with a team of peers, I had the opportunity to help plan one of the nation's only undergraduate research conference in the Medical Humanities, while facilitating general and organic chemistry recitation sessions in the Peer Led Team Learning (PLTL) program. Adapting these skills, I helped cofound @Indy COVID Relief, a social media hub that seeks to conglomerate resources on immediate needs, through a variety of issue areas in the community.

While the work of nonprofits necessarily form an important aspect of philanthropy, the role of voluntary associations and smaller groups can be incredibly important. In my own undergraduate career, I have witness how peer networking has worked to effect social change or promote a new didactic technique or raise awareness for the humanistic side of medicine
